A cock ring is one of the simplest toys you can buy, and one of the easiest to add to sex you already enjoy. It sits snugly around the base of the penis, or the penis and testicles, and many people wear one for a firmer, longer-lasting feel. Add a small motor and it becomes a vibrating ring that both partners can feel.
The hard part is choosing. Our cock ring collection has hundreds of options, from stretchy silicone bands to rechargeable couples' toys. Here are five that cover the main styles and budgets.
Quick answer: If you've never worn one, start with a stretchy silicone ring such as the Je Joue Maximum Stretch ($16.34) or the ROMP Remix Trio 3-pack ($18.50). For a vibrating ring to use with a partner, the LELO TOR 2 and Dame Hug are our top picks, and the plusOne Vibrating Ring is the budget option.

| ROMP Remix Trio | 3 silicone rings | Finding your fit | $18.50 |

Which type of cock ring should you choose?
- Stretchy silicone rings are the safest starting point. They flex to fit, they're easy to take off, and they cost very little.
- Adjustable rings open and close or squeeze to fit, so you don't have to guess your size.
- Vibrating rings add a small motor, usually positioned to give a partner external stimulation during penetration.
- Rigid metal rings are for experienced users only. They don't stretch, so the size has to be exactly right. We'd skip them for a first ring.
For a deeper look at styles, our cock ring types guide explains each one.
1. Je Joue Stretch Rings: best first cock ring
Je Joue makes the same soft silicone ring in three stretch levels. The level is about how firm the ring feels, not just your size. The Maximum Stretch is the gentlest and the one Je Joue suggests for new users or anyone wearing it around both the penis and testicles. The Medium Stretch is a step firmer, and the Minimum Stretch is for experienced users.
All three are 100% silicone, waterproof and have a non-slip design. Each stretches from 1.25 inches to 8 inches in diameter, so you can put it on or take it off easily. See the full range in our Je Joue collection.
2. ROMP Remix Trio: best for finding your fit
Not sure what size or firmness you like? The ROMP Remix Trio gives you three stretchy silicone rings in graduated sizes for $18.50. Start with the largest, try the others, and you'll quickly learn what feels right. You can also stack two on the shaft or wear one around the testicles.
They're non-vibrating, so there's nothing to charge, and they rinse clean under warm water. More from the brand is in our ROMP collection.
3. plusOne Vibrating Ring: best budget vibrating ring
The plusOne Vibrating Ring is the cheapest way to try vibration. It's made from very stretchy silicone, it's fully waterproof, and its rechargeable battery gives up to 2 hours of use. A full charge takes about 60 minutes.
The vibrating section can face up toward a partner for external stimulation, or down for the wearer. It's a simple toy, but at under $50 it's a low-risk way to find out whether you both like a vibrating ring.
4. Dame Hug: best adjustable vibrating ring
The Dame Hug uses a squeeze-to-fit design instead of a fixed size. Squeeze the sides to open it, slide it on, and it settles to your size. That takes most of the guesswork out of choosing.
The angled vibrator sits at the base, where it can give a partner clitoral contact during face-to-face sex, or point inward toward the wearer. It has 5 intensities and 5 patterns, a USB-C rechargeable battery that gives about an hour at the highest setting, and a fully waterproof body. Dame includes a 3-year warranty. See more in our Dame collection.
5. LELO TOR 2: best premium couples ring
The LELO TOR 2 is a stretchy silicone ring with a larger vibrating body designed for shared stimulation. It has 6 vibration patterns with adjustable strength, runs for up to 1.5 hours per charge and is waterproof to 1 metre. It's also quiet, rated at 50 dB at most.
You can wear it with the vibrating body facing up or down, depending on the position. LELO backs it with a 1-year warranty and a 10-year quality guarantee. Our couples sex toys guide covers more toys designed for two.
How do you put on a cock ring?
Put it on when you're soft or partly erect; it's much harder once you're fully erect. Add a little water-based lube, stretch the ring and slide it to the base of the shaft. To wear it around the testicles too, guide one testicle through at a time, then the shaft. It should feel snug, never painful.
How do you stay safe with a cock ring?
- Keep it to 20 to 30 minutes at a time. Take it off after that, even if it feels fine.
- Remove it straight away if you notice pain, numbness, coldness or skin turning dark or purple.
- Start with stretchy silicone. It's easy to take off. Rigid rings are not.
- Get the size right. Our cock ring sizes guide explains how to measure.
What lube works with a cock ring?
Use a water-based lube. Silicone lube can damage silicone rings over time. Clean the ring after each use with warm water and mild soap or a toy cleaner, and let it dry before storing.
