pjur AQUA Natural is a water based personal lubricant made with 99.5% naturally derived ingredients and no ingredients of animal origin. Pure vegetable glycerin adds moisture and keeps the glide going, and there's no perfume, flavour, synthetic colour, fat or paraffin in the bottle. This 100 ml (3.4 oz) size suits everyday sex and toy play, and anyone who wants a plain, unscented lube with a short ingredient list.
There are seven ingredients: water, glycerin, xanthan gum, benzyl alcohol, sodium benzoate, citric acid and potassium sorbate. Glycerin, here from vegetable sources, gives the moisture and slip. Xanthan gum thickens the formula slightly so it stays where you put it. The rest keep the bottle fresh. pjur leaves out synthetic colours, fats, paraffins, perfume and added flavours, so it doesn't smell or taste of much, which many people prefer for oral contact.
It's a smooth, clear lube with a light body: slicker than a thin, watery formula but not as cushiony as a gel. The glycerin helps it hold moisture on the skin, so it lasts through intercourse and longer foreplay. As with all water-based lubes, it slowly absorbs over a long session. A few drops of water, or a little more lube, bring it back. Clean-up is easy: it rinses off skin, toys and sheets with warm water.
pjur lists it as suitable for erotic toys, and water-based lube is the standard pairing for silicone, which silicone lubes can wear down over time. Before each use, look your toy over for cracks, chips, tears or discolouration, and stop using a damaged toy. pjur doesn't make a specific condom claim for this product. Oil-free, water-based formulas like this are generally compatible with latex condoms, but check the condom packaging if you're unsure. It isn't a contraceptive and contains no spermicide.
It works for gentle anal play, especially with toys or condoms, but the anus makes no natural lubrication, so you'll need more and you'll reapply more often than with vaginal sex. Apply generously to both partners or to the toy. For long anal sessions, a thicker formula made for anal use lasts longer between top-ups.
Unscrew the cap, squeeze out what you need and apply it wherever you want extra moisture or glide. Replace the cap afterwards. It's very slippery on floors and tiles, so wipe up spills straight away and take care in the bath and shower, where water also rinses it away faster. Don't use it on irritated or broken skin, keep it away from your eyes, and stop if you notice discomfort.
A 100 ml bottle is a good everyday size: big enough to last a while, small enough for a nightstand drawer or a weekend bag. Keep it capped and out of hot sun between uses.
