Wet Gold is a hybrid lube that blends water and silicone, so it glides longer than a water-based gel but still rinses off with water. Water-based lubes are easy to clean and kind to toys, but they can dry out and need topping up. Silicone lubes last much longer, but they cling to skin and sheets and can be tricky with silicone toys. Wet Gold blends the two. You get a smoother, longer glide than a typical water-based gel, and because the formula is water-soluble, it still washes off with plain water. Because the blend contains silicone, it's worth spot-testing on silicone toys before regular use: rub a little on the base, leave it for an hour, wash it off and check that the surface still feels smooth. Glass, stainless steel and hard plastic toys aren't affected by silicone lube, so they're fine. If a silicone toy turns tacky or dull, switch to a pure water-based lube for that one.
This is where a hybrid earns its place. Wet Gold is water-soluble and non-staining, so it rinses off skin with warm water and comes out of bedding in a normal wash. There's no need for soap to break it down the way there is with pure silicone. Wipe the bottle cap after use so it doesn't get slippery in the hand next time.
Nine ounces, about 266 ml, is a big bottle, made for couples who use lube regularly or anyone who likes it for massage as well. Keep it by the bed with the cap closed, away from direct heat. Trigg Laboratories makes it in the USA in a cGMP-compliant lab. The bottle design has changed over time, so the one you receive may look different from older photos, but the formula is the same.
Choose Wet Gold if you find water-based lubes dry out too quickly but don't want the clean-up of pure silicone, or if you want one bottle for sex and massage. If you mainly use silicone toys and don't want to spot-test, a pure water-based lube is the simpler choice.
