ID Free is a water-based lube made without glycerin, parabens, alcohol or fragrance, for people who want a simple formula that still lasts. The 3.4 oz bottle from ID Lubricants is clear, non-staining, condom-friendly and safe with silicone toys, so it suits sensitive skin, couples and anyone who wants one lube that works for almost everything.

What's left out of the formula

The point of ID Free is in the name. It contains no glycerin, parabens, benzoic acid, propylene glycol, petrochemicals or alcohol, and it's fragrance-free, colourless and hormone-free. Glycerin and parabens are common in personal lubricants, but some people prefer to avoid them, either because they find them irritating or simply because they want a shorter ingredient list. ID describes the formula as ultra gentle and made for sensitive skin. As with any new product, try a small amount first if you react easily, and stop using it if anything stings or itches.

How a glycerin-free lube feels

Glycerin is often what gives a water-based lube its slick, slightly sticky glide, so formulas without it can dry out quickly. ID says it built Free to fix that, aiming for a long-lasting slip and a natural feel that many glycerin- and paraben-free lubes lack. In practice, expect a smooth, light texture that doesn't feel syrupy. If it starts to fade during a long session, a few drops of water or a little more lube brings the glide back. It does contain sucralose, a sweetener, which is worth knowing if you're reading the label closely.

A water-based lube that's safe with condoms and toys

It's compatible with natural rubber latex, so you can use it with latex condoms, dams and gloves without weakening them. ID also lists it as safe on silicone and rubber toys, which matters because silicone lubricants can damage silicone toys. That makes it an easy all-round bottle to keep by the bed: one lube for sex with condoms, for vibrators and dildos, and for solo play.

How to use it

Squeeze a little onto your fingers or straight onto the toy or condom, and warm it between your fingers for a moment if you like. Start small; you can always add more. For anal play, use more than you think you need and reapply as you go, since the body doesn't make its own lubrication there. For toy play, coat both the toy and yourself. With a condom, a few drops inside the tip and more on the outside makes it feel closer to skin. Because it's water-based, it also works well for massage of intimate areas before sex, and it won't leave an oily film on hands or sheets afterwards.

Clean-up and storage

ID Free is non-staining and rinses off skin, sheets and toys with plain water, so there's no greasy residue. Wash toys afterwards with soap or toy cleaner as usual. Close the cap tightly and keep the bottle at room temperature, out of direct sunlight.

Helpful Information

Frequently Asked Questions

Helpful answers about ID LUBRICANTS - ID Free Lubricant 3.4 Oz.

Is ID Free lubricant glycerin-free?

Yes. ID Free contains no glycerin, and it's also free of parabens, benzoic acid, propylene glycol, petrochemicals and alcohol. The base is water and propanediol, thickened with hydroxyethylcellulose and carbomer.

Is ID Free lube condom-safe?

Yes. ID lists Free as compatible with natural rubber latex, so it's safe with latex condoms and dams. Water-based lubes don't weaken latex the way oils and lotions can. Apply some on the outside of the condom for comfort.

Can I use ID Free with silicone toys?

Yes. ID Free is water-based and ID lists it as safe on silicone and rubber toys. That makes it a good default for vibrators and dildos, where silicone lube can sometimes damage the surface over time.

Is ID Free good for sensitive skin?

ID made Free for sensitive skin, leaving out fragrance, glycerin, parabens and alcohol, which are common triggers for some people. Everyone's skin is different, so patch-test a little on your inner arm first and stop if you notice irritation.

Is ID Free lube edible or flavoured?

ID Free is unflavoured and fragrance-free, and it isn't sold as a flavoured or edible lube. It does contain sucralose, a sweetener, so it may taste faintly sweet. A little during oral sex is fine for most people; for flavour, choose a dedicated flavoured lube.

Can I use ID Free for anal sex?

Yes, ID Free works for anal, but it's a lighter texture than thick anal gels. Use plenty and reapply often. If you want more cushion, pair it with a thicker formula from our anal lubes collection.

Does ID Free stain sheets?

No. ID Free is non-staining and colourless, and it washes out of fabric and off skin with plain water. That also makes clean-up after toy play easy: rinse, then wash the toy with soap or toy cleaner as usual.
