ID Glide is a water-based personal lubricant with a natural, slippery feel that works for almost everything: sex, solo play and toys. It's tested as safe with latex and polyurethane condoms, it won't stain, and when it starts to dry you can revive it with a drop of water. This 8.5 oz bottle is a good everyday size for couples and regular users.

How ID Glide feels

Glide is a clear, light-to-medium water-based gel that feels close to natural wetness. It spreads easily, doesn't feel heavy or greasy, and doesn't leave a film once it's absorbed or rinsed. It's a general-purpose formula, so it covers most situations without being a specialist product: solo play, sex with a partner, massage of intimate areas and toys. If you've never bought lube before, this is the kind of everyday bottle that answers most needs.

Safe with condoms and toys

ID says Glide has been tested for compatibility with latex and polyurethane condoms, so it won't weaken them the way oil can. Being water-based, it's also safe on toys of every material, including silicone, which can be damaged by silicone lubes. That makes it the easy option when you're switching between condoms and toys in the same session.

How much to use

Start with a coin-sized amount warmed between your fingers, then apply it where you need it: on yourself, your partner, the outside of a condom or the toy. More is rarely a problem with a water-based formula, since any excess simply wipes away. With strokers and sleeves, put some inside the opening as well as on the body, and add more whenever you feel any drag.

Reactivate instead of reapplying

Water-based lube can start to feel tacky as the water in it evaporates or absorbs. With Glide, a few drops of water or a little saliva bring the slip back without adding more product. Keep a glass of water on the nightstand during longer sessions. For anal play, which needs more lubrication than vaginal sex, use a generous amount from the start and top it up often, or pair it with a thicker formula.

Clean-up is easy too. Glide is made not to stain, and it washes off skin, toys and sheets with plain water. There's no need for soap on your body unless you want it. For toys, a rinse with warm water and a toy cleaner is enough, and fabrics come clean in a normal wash.

Ingredients and sizes

The formula contains water, glycerin, propylene glycol, cellulose gum, EDTA, carbomer, PEG-90M, tetrahydroxypropyl ethylenediamine, methylparaben, sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate. If you prefer to avoid glycerin or parabens, look at a glycerin-free or organic formula instead, and if you have sensitive skin, try a small amount on your inner arm first. This is the 8.5 oz bottle, a practical size for regular use at home. Glide also comes in 2.2 oz, 4.4 oz, 17 oz and 64 oz.

Helpful Information

Frequently Asked Questions

Helpful answers about ID Glide Water Based Lubricant 8.5 Oz.

Is ID Glide water-based lube condom-safe?

Yes. ID tests Glide for compatibility with latex and polyurethane condoms, so it won't weaken them. That's one of the main reasons to choose a water-based lube over an oil. Apply it on the outside of the condom, not inside.

Can I use ID Glide with silicone toys?

Yes. ID Glide is water-based, which makes it safe for silicone toys as well as glass, metal, TPE and ABS. Silicone lubes are the ones to avoid on silicone toys. Apply a little to the toy and to yourself, and rinse the toy afterwards.

Is water-based lube good for anal sex?

It works, but you'll need more of it. ID Glide is fairly light, so for anal use apply generously and reapply often, or revive it with a little water. Many people prefer a thicker gel for anal; see our anal lubes for options.

Why does ID Glide get sticky, and how do I fix it?

Water-based lubes turn tacky as their water content absorbs or evaporates. Add a few drops of water or saliva to ID Glide and it becomes slippery again. If it's very dry, wipe off the old layer and add a fresh one.

Does ID Glide contain glycerin?

Yes. ID Glide lists glycerin as its second ingredient and also contains methylparaben. If you're prone to irritation from glycerin or prefer paraben-free products, choose a glycerin-free water-based formula instead and do a patch test first.

Is ID Glide edible or safe for oral sex?

ID Glide isn't marketed as flavoured or edible, but small amounts during oral sex are common with water-based lubes like this. It has a mild taste from the glycerin. If you'd prefer a taste, choose a flavoured lube instead.

How long does an 8.5 oz bottle of ID Glide last?

That depends on how often you use it and how much each time, but 8.5 oz is a generous everyday size. Because you can revive ID Glide with water rather than reapplying, it tends to go further than you'd expect.
