NEA Originals measures 74 x 39 x 34 mm and weighs 45 g, roughly the size of a small egg. Connect it to the LELO app and you unlock 4 more: two regular modes and two advanced ones called Finish Me Off and Out of Control. The motor runs at 93 Hz, a mid-range frequency that feels full rather than sharp, and LELO lists the maximum noise at 60 dB or less, about the level of a quiet conversation.

The first-time app unlock

One thing to know before you buy: LELO Originals ship with an app lock to confirm the device is genuine and up to date. On first use you'll need to unlock it through the LELO app. Charge it for 2 hours, download the app on iOS or Android, register, choose the Originals series, then press + on the toy so the LED blinks and press + again to confirm pairing. After that you can use it with or without your phone.

Using the clitoral vibrator without the app

Once unlocked, press + to switch on, double-press + to change pattern, and use + and - to raise or lower the intensity. Press and hold to turn it off. Start low with a little water-based lube, over the clitoral hood or beside the clitoris rather than directly on it, and move up as you warm up. Its size makes it easy to keep in place during partnered sex, too.

Battery, water and travel

A full charge takes up to 2 hours and gives up to 2 hours of play, and it can hold that charge on standby for at least 90 days. It's waterproof to IPX7, so the bath and shower are fine. To stop it switching on in a bag, hold + and - together for 3 seconds to set the travel lock, and repeat to release it.
